GREATLY appreciate the expertise! Ill have to pull the tripp-lite out, but it's a big one, 6 plugs in the back. This one is maybe 5yrs old. I had one go out last year, and it was really old. T-L replaced it for free. They had me send the broken one to them, as by their explanation, they rarely go out..

Your reply was very helpful in that I won't waste my time on this printer any longer. I'm shocked it went so quickly. my last laser lasted 13yrs.

the 2 contacts on the cartridge are touching, nothing is bent. The contacts are plastic so there is nothing to bend, nor is there anything bent, it just went out suddenly.

I trust the tripp-lite so ill continue to use it. I will make room to plug the next printer direct. I have years of basic electronics, but no degree. I know enough that it wasn't the T-L that caused this. I have everything else plugged into it, and nothing else is damaged. I do think the printer did something to cause this issue, but thats just my opinion.

thanks again for the time.

regards, dw

No worries. I've had many customers have everything, computers, routers, modems, including the laser printer plugged into them, and everything but the laser still works fine too. Check the output power rating on the Tripp Lite, then add up all the power ratings of all the devices you have plugged into it and see how they compare. Many times I find customers' devices add up to being at or exceeding the rated power capability of the Tripp Lite like device. You always want to come in a littler lower so as to not put undo strain on it.

Good Luck 🙂

..ive done this in the past. Our power here is very high and the T-L reduces that, maybe by 10v. it usually reads a steady 110v. indicators on the front say when the power is not where its supposed to be. In this box the light always reads a steady high voltage. sometimes it will shift [by a click and light change]. Basically the T-L stops high power from getting to what is plugged in..So IDT a surge came from the T-L, but rather the printer going out. The "click" before the problem happened when the printer was idle.  The printer is directly plugged into a power panel specifically for computers and a special plug is for the printer. It is directly plugged into the T-L. It also has surge protection. Our T-l model goes both ways as far as regulating power, but it does not have a battery like UPS units. It will also shut off if the power goes too low, which has occurred in the past. We live in a small town
