I used to have a All-in-One Deskjet F4280 which would allow multiple images to be scanned and each of them would appear in the preview screen with each file individually cropped.
Now I recently purchased a HP Photosmart Plus b210 (because I took all of my grandmothers loose pictures; about 2000) to scan for safe keeping. However, once I scan the images it saves them as one file, not individual ones.
I cannot find any setting to change this.
Also, the F4280 had photo software which allowed me to do things like bright, remove dust, etc.. from the images, I have yet to see that program with my new printer.
What am I missing? 🙂

EdTX,
Thank you for the reply. I have already tried what you suggested and no matter what option I try it only saves as one image. It seems pretty nuts that a printer marketed as a "all-in-one" geared towards photo's wouldn't have the software to back up the technology. On the other hand my $45 Deskjet scans 70% faster and has the functionality for scanning that I need (although, I'd never try to print anything with it..).
Thanks for the help, I'll just continue scanning with the Deskjet and hope HP gets a software update which will allow better use of their product.

Hi Jeromy,
Once you select "Picture to File" click on "Advance Settings". Click on Scan tab. By default "Scan Entire Area" is selected. Wht are the other options present in the drop down menu? Have you tried working with those?

Praveen_David,
Thank you for your reply.
You said,

Yes. The only options listed to me under "Scan Entire Area" drop down menu are for varying sizes of pictures (ie: 5"x7", 4"x6", etc.). They don't offer the functionality of scanning multiple pictures into individual files either. Also, when clicking the "Advanced Settings" link it does give me the option on the File tab for *.tiff and *.pdf files to save as individual files. However, even when selecting those file types and checking the box to save as individual files it still only saves as one document.

Unfortunately, I haven't found an acceptable solution yet. Once one is uncovered I will gladly mark this thread as "closed". 🙂
Thanks again for you assistance.

Hi Jeromy,
I have checked all the settings and it seems we cannot scan multiple images at the same time to individual files. This option was available with previous version software.
What we need to do is when the scan preview appears, remove the image and insert the second one on the scanner glass and in the Scan Preview Window, click on the "Add Pages" icon. This will scan the second image.
Once everything is finished, click on save and it will save the images to individual files.

Hello kelonimos
Not all printers may be able to do it, but you may refer to the article below to see how it might be done.
Scanning Multiple Images to Multiple Files in One Scan
Also a friendly tip the number 4580 can mean quite a few different printer models. Next time include the full name or product model.
When a solution is found please mark the post that solves your issue.

Talked with HP today. I found out the same thing, the NEW photosmart 6520 scans only one photo at a time and you have to change the photo size if you have different sizes. The old one was all automatic. The old software was HP solutions which did that function, new software HP printer assistant. Looking for new printer, can't be wasting time doing one picture at a time. Hope this helps..
