I am trying to configure the printer to scan to a Network share on a Windows 2012 file server. I have given the special user account for our printers write access to the folder. I then setup the printer with a UNC path using either the FQDN or IP of the server. The printer fails to test the folder with the error: "The network folder path is invalid. Ensure the specified directory exists". I had the user try scanning and it also fails. What permissions is required to scan to a network share?

Ok, so I just wasted like an hour and a half with this problem, and I have found the issue.
Give your Printer Account expected permissions:
Share = Read and Write
Target Directory Security = List Folder Contents and Write
Ok, so that should work. BUT there is a fun issue, if your target is not the direct share, you have to give the printer account "list folder contents" permissions for the entire path. ie:
Network share is \\Server\FileRepository
and your target directory is \\Server\FileRepository\Users\UserX\Scanns
It will not work unless you make sure that the printer's account has "List Folder Contents" permisions in each directory
Shold it need this permision? NO.
Also 10 minute mail cause I don't want spam.
Giving the printer a Network admin account is NOT A FIX. k thx
