Scanjet G4050
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an older Scanjet G4050 that works just fine.  I have hooked it up to my HP laptop.  The scanner has never been attached to this laptop.  The CD's that came with the scanner are for Windows Vista and will not work with Windows 10 (64 bit) OS.  I've tried to find and download the install and setup software for this scanner but have not been able to get it to work.  Every solution I found was for updating the original software; so, I need the entire install and setup software.  Does anyone know where I can download the installtion software for my G4050?

i have the same issue.  I also have two jpg images showing the strange error messages i am getting, if anyone wants them.

In further explorations i find that HP Solutions Center and HP Photosmart have been deleted from the system.  The old CD that came with the scanner six years ago won't be accepted by Windows 10.  Where can i find these software products?  Certainly the download centre does NOT provide them.

I found the drivers and software.  Go to:  http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=3236377&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4192 and click on the "Driver - Product Installation Software" plus sign.  Then select the download for "HP Scanjet G4050 Photo Scanner Full Feature Software and Driver" button.  Had to dig into the HP support site to find this.  I did this and it installed correctly on my laptop.  I did have problems installing on my desktop which is setup identical to my laptop; have not figured out what the problem is there - the installation just hangs and never finishes.

I cannot get the hp g4050 to run on Windows 10.  The original CD says I can't "run as" for the cd.  If I download  g4050 software and drivers from HP it seems to go fine until it decides it needs a scan.msi file.  I tried all of the solutions I could find on the forum to no avail.  The hp solution center has disappeared along the way also.  Does anyone have any ideas?  I tried the suggestion that said to go to util folder on original cd and run all the uninstall bat files but then the last step says to use Windows cleanup util which can't be used for Windows 10.  The scanner still worked great before this but now I can't use it now Thanks for any help!!!

Is there software available ?

Your scanner will work with other software and the required drivers are included in Windows 10.  The function keys and many nice HP software features are all lost - HP is refusing to spend money to keep this product alive to its full potential.  Next time by a Cannon or Epson scanner.

After reading through all the responses on here, I'd had given up on getting my scanner to work again.  Soon after that I fouind http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/closure/hp-scanjet-g4050-photo-scanner/3236371 and installed it.  My scanner is working again as before.  I have an HP P6720f desktop running Windows 10.
