I am having a similar problem but am using wireless betw Mac & HP 8500 all in one.

I'm using macs running 10.6.8, wireless via a DSL modem from VZ, and have had little trouble until recently.  Now the HP8500 AIO we've had for several years will not stay connected (ie, show up as available in Image Capture, for scanning or printing).  It has to be re-started continuously by powering down and back up, the only way I have found to re-establish the connection.  All appears well when viewing the "Tools" menu on the HP.  Wireless shows as up and working there, too.

This wastes time and ink since the machine goes thru a totally unnecessary cleaning cycle each time.  Can you help?

I also tried using the HP software but with the same result--no connection until the printer is turned on & off.

VZ recently sent us a new DSL modem, D-Link model DSL-2750B, if that matters.  I cannot say with certainty if the problem goes back before that, but it may not.  It is of recent origin, certain of that, but just not certain exactly when it started.

Thank you for helping out.

Hi HP8500JGH

I see that you are having wireless connection issues with the Officejet 8500.

If the printer is still on the network then I would skip to step 5 in the url I have provided and create a static ip address, the router will always assign the printer the same ip address. This should resolve the issue to have to be restart continuously by powering down and back up to re-establish the connection on the network again.

If this doesn't resolve the issue then I would follow the full document.

If you have any further issues please let me know.
