macOS 10.12 Sierra

My printer is working but my scanner isn't scanning.  I updated the firmware and also installed HP easy scan but none of those seemed to work.  Before I updated the firmware it would scan but nothing would show up on the scanned docs and I checked everywhere and its nowhere on my computer.  I updated, now it says scanner not connected.  I even went in to my system preerences and the scanner isn't openening there either.

Neep help please!

Hello, @zephsdad1 – Greetings!

Welcome to the HP Forum! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips.

I understand you are having scanning issues while using the LaserJet printer. Follow the steps below to try and fix the issue:

  • Uninstall the old printer drivers first. Follow the steps mentioned here: http://hp.care/2cKwLyC
  • Now run the Apple Software Update. Check here for steps: http://hp.care/2cNgw3C
  • Click the Apple menu icon, and then click “System Preferences”.
  • Click “Printers and Scanner” / “Print and Scan” or “Print and Fax”.
  • Right-click the blank space in the Printers list, and then click “Reset printing system”.
  • Click “Reset” in the confirmation window.
  • Enter an administrator username and password, and then click “OK”.
  • Wait until the printing system is reset and no devices show in the Printers list
  • Click the “Add button” (+).
  • Find, and then select the name of your printer from the printer list, and then click “Add” to add your printer.
  • Click “Print Using...” or "Use", and then select the name of your printer (By default “Airprint” would be selected)
  • Now try using the HP Easy scan. Check http://hp.care/2ffHTph for details.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Cheers 🙂

I had the same issue described here and followed all the procedures to uninstall the printer software and resinstall then add the printer again. I have an MFP M277c6. When I run HP Scan the scanner appears to scan the document but no scanned document appears in HP Scan. Also, I'm not able to access the printer via its IP address.

Hello @Blake-eh,

Thanks for reaching out.

If you are unable to access the printer via the IP address, then most likely the printer is not connected to the same network as your computer. I would suggest you perform a network power drain and check. If that does not resolve the issue, then reconnect the printer to the network again. Try the steps below to do a network power drain (This will assign a new IP address for the printer):

•                     Turn off all the devices connected on your network including the PC, Smartphones, printer, modem (if present) and router. Make sure all the devices in the network are turned off / unplugged.

•                     Now turn on the modem if present. Wait till all the lights are steady and idle.

•                     Then turn on the router. Again wait for a couple of minutes so that the lights are all steady.

•                     Then turn on the printer and other devices.

Now try scanning. If the issue persists, then disconnect and reconnect the printer to your home network. You can refer to http://hp.care/2fr4Gyi

Let me know if that helps.

Good luck 🙂
