My HP printer/scanner will not scan a full page/document. Every time I put a document on the scanner and scan it in, it only scans part of the document and wont let me change anything to make full document. This is very bothersome!

The Scan displays a layout of the full document, but it wont scan and save the whole thing only part of it.

I don't know how to change the settings cause I have a MacBook Pro and it seems to be idiot proof 😛

What model of the printer/scanner you have? and which scan mode? Are you using the Scan function in the Printer & Scanner on the MacBook Pro? Was there any error message?

I am using a C4200 series. And I am scanning from my computer and not from the scanner alone because the scanner alone says that the USB isn't connected.. even though it is cause it prints fine.

To a computer, a multi-function device is treated as multiple devices. So it is possible that the printer is working, but the scanner still needs to be configured (so that the scan button will work) and/or driver installed.
I am assuming there is no error message when you scan from your computer, just didn't get the whole document. Was there a white gap in the document? It maybe due to the "Auto Crop" feature, which helps reduce image size by automatically crop the scan area. Try turn off the "auto Crop" feature, or change the scan mode, see if that makes any difference.
