I am trying to scan on an m127fw mfp; I have previously successfully used the scan function. It is connected by USB/bonjour to an imac running 10.10.1 When I launch HP Scan and click to start a scan, I get a yellow triangle and the settings menu is grayed out; if I click "continue", I go to a screen that says preparing to scan. after that, nothing happens.
I tried scanning thru the HP Utility; the instructions said to click on the Scan button; there is no Scan button. The Utility recognizes the m127; it even notices that there's a doc loaded in the feeder.
I have re-downloaded/re-installed the current drivers.
How can i get the scan to work again?

Hi massscanner,
As I mentioned previously, most likely the HP Scan Software won't run with 10.10. There isn't a Full Software driver available with the HP Scan Software for 10.10 at this time.
You will have to scan with the Apple Software.
Scan from OS X v10.9 Mavericks Without HP Software for HP Multifunction Printers.
Thank You.

Hi @massscanner ,
I see by your post that you are having issues scanning. I would like to help you out today.
The drivers for Maverick are installed by the Apple Updates. Did you install the 10.9 drivers or are did up run the Apple Updates to install the printer?
The HP Scan Software most likely won't run properly using 10.10.
Check the driver name that is installed for the printer. Make sure it shows just the printer's name.
Click the Apple menu and then click System Preferences. Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer name on the left side and on the right side of the screen it should show the printer's name.
If the full printer name isn't listed correctly, delete it and add the printer name back in from the list. Click the - sign to delete the driver and then click the + sign to add the driver, might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name to add it in.
Follow the steps in this document to Scan from OS X v10.9 Mavericks Without HP Software for HP Multifunction Printers.
It will also work for 10.10.
If you are still having issues, uninstall the old printer software.
Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Connect the printer to the Mac by a USB cable and run the Apple Updates to install the printer drivers.
Go to the Apple, About this Mac, click on the Overview tab and select Software Updates.
Go to the Apple, Printers and Scanners, delete the USB drivers and disconnect the USB cable.
Then add the wireless printer as a Bonjour printer.
Click on the + sign, highlight the printer, below beside Use: make sure just the printer name is listed. (you might have to click on the drop down to select your printer from the list)
Test the printer.
You might even have to download and install the HP Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X.
Please let me know the results.
Have a great day!
Thank You.

Thank you but my problem is not solved, not really. I spent 2 hours in chat with HP Support (disconnected by the first helper, then had to start all over again with the 2nd). Wedownloaded, redownloaded, installed, uninstalled, reinstalled -- HP drivers from the HP web site, and the software NEVER worked. I gave each of them remote control, and all they did was re-do what I'd already done. And, as I said, after the first "helper" disconnected, and I tried chat again, the 2nd helper insisted we had to do everything all over again -- which would have been fine if it had made a difference. But it didn't; at the end of 2 hours of my work day, I was in exactly the same place as at the beginning. I tried your suggestions and they did not work either.
I can scan, but not thru the HP software. At least I know the machine works! I set up a desktop printer; when I want to scan, I click on that, then on the scan tab, and from there, scanning works. But if I launch the HP software and try to scan, it hangs. This is adequate, but not good; none of the features of the HP Scan software are available to me.
It's clear to me that the problem is not an old driver, or the foolishness of using the driver that came with the CD (which I didn't do b/c my iMac has NO CD drive), but that whatever drivers you have on offer don't work properly. Come up with a driver that works and I'll be a happy camper.

THANKS. Of course, it would have been better if your tech people had said that from the get go and had shown me how to use Apple's built-in software to do the deed. And if your software doesn't work with 10.10, why not go public with that info and save us all a lot of time.
As I said, I'm able to scan and that's really all I need, but I'm disappointed with HP. I've been using HP printers with Macs for more than 20 years and have had no trouble recommending them. That's not going to be true from now on; I'll tell people the machine works but the software doesn't. Given a choice, my bet is they'll move on to a Brother or an Epson. You need to get with the program and update your software.

Hi massscanner ,
I would check the website periodically for the Full Solution Software. Since there was one for 10.9, most likely there will be one available in the near future for 10.10.
Here is the URL for the web page to check for the updated drivers and software.
HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fw Drivers.
Thank You.
