I can print and scan from the PC that is directly connected to the A-I-O and print from the other PC but it will not find the scanner portion when I go to add device and will not find the scanner when installing the software for the scanner.

Hi @liars,
I read your post and see that you aren't able to scan from the shared computer. I would like to help you out today.
I would suggest to network the printer properly over the network, by connecting the Ethernet cable from the printer and the router. Then flip the port to the TCP/IP port to the new port.
Go into Devices and Printers, right click the printer and left click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.
Test the printer.

I am glad that you replied, however, I cannot use the suggested fix. There is not a network dataport in which to connect the printer. The office has only two dataports and they connect to the computers in the office. Thus the printer has to be shared from one PC to another. It may not be a printer/scanner problem as WIndows does not give you the opportunity to find the scanner across the network unless you are connected as you suggest.I am glad that you replied, however, I cannot use the suggested fix. The only way to use your fix is to purchase a managed switch that is a more expensive option than others. Because of policies in place we cannot have unmanaged switches on the network. I am trying to find the least expensive option available, which at this time looks to be getting a scanner and connecting it to the PC directly. Thank you for your time and suggestion.

Hi @liars,
HP does not support peer-to-peer networking, as the feature is a function of Microsoft operating systems and not of the HP printer drivers. But I did come across this information that may be helpful.
Hope this helps. Thank You.
