My last two HP printers came with a great scanning app that loaded on the desktop. Now I have to go through three or four steps to start the scanner. Who's idea was that???

• Create a shortcut for the Printer Assistant (Full Feature Software) scan program

Open File Explorer >

Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Officejet Pro 8710\bin >

Right-Click on HPScan.exe > Send to Desktop

• Additional Scan Program

Download Install HP Extended Scan 

If the program does not place an icon on your Desktop:

Open File Explorer >

Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Scan Extended\bin >

Right-Click on HPScan.exe > Send to desktop

Features!

Check out the image "auto detect" feature that scans single or multiple images from the printer glass -- and can extract (detect) image in a document on the glass.

NOTE: 

HP Extended Scan, NAPS2, and (most likely) Webscan will work on Windows 7 -- some of the other programs mentioned in the document may not be available on this older Version of Windows.
