I am trying to scan photographs (8x10) in grayscale that will be used in a publication.  The scans are being saved as Tiff files.  All seems to go well until I send the files to my editor.  When he opens the files, he sees the scans as not grayscale but as indexed color format.  My settings indicate grayscale.  Is this an issue with the HP software or am I doing something wrong?   The available settings are very basic and do not provide much in the way of customizing the scans.   I appreciate any suggestions.

HI

There should not be any issue after the file conversion, if you have scanned any image as greyscale and saved that in teh local drive, then once you try to open it should open in greyscale.

You can also try after saving the file try to save that in some other format like PDF, Jpeg etc, just to cross check if after saving in other formats is it still giving color options.

WIth this we will be able to further diagnose the issue. Or if you can try reinstallting the complete printer driver once again, after uninstalling that in your pc, that can also help at times.

Kaps

The solution offered did not resolve the issue.  Instead, I converted the files to grayscale using Photo Shop.
