Hi,
You may create a shortcut to the HP Scan software from your desktop.
Right click the desktop background, select New and then Shortcut.
The location for a 64-bit OS will be:
C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Officejet Pro 8600\bin\HPScan.exe
And for a 32-bit OS it will be:
C:\Program Files\HP\HP Officejet Pro 8600\bin\HPScan.exe
Follow the steps to complete the wizard and simply launch the icon for scanning.
