OJ 8500 Pro
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My printer is compatible, but I cannot install Solution Center and the rest of the full driver download.

Problems started in 2015 - November.

I installed Win 10 in January and July 2016.  I just did a repair/update in place installation twice last week.

No matter what I do, I cannot finish the installation.

Any HP remedies are utterly useless.

The tailord instructionis for "Windows 8.1" are to uninstall software and install again.

Since November 2015, I have probably downloaded and installed the OJ 8500 full software & drivers nearly three dozen (36) times.

There was a period when all parts were functioning after the CLEAN INSTALL in July, 2016, but I think with MS's frequent updates, it keeps throwing the printer off.

It is NOT a coincidence that every time I lose functionality, it is the day following a Windows Update.

One point five years is a long time, don't you think?

Thank you.

Hi @CiaoBella1,

Thank you for posting on HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel.I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I see from the post that you are having issues installing solution center on Windows 10 PC. Don't worry as I have a few steps to help you get through this concern,

The HP solution center is for older printer models and hence has a compatibility issue while running in Windows 10 environment. I would suggest you a workaround by changing the compatibility on the drivers. Follow the steps below (Check the fig below for ref):

  • Unplug the USB cable from the printer and computer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them. (Including the HP solution center)
  • Restart your computer.
  • Go to  http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL31041/mp-110033-3/OJ_AIO_P8500_A909_Full_Win_WW_140_408-... and download and save the file (Do not run the file, just download and save it to your desktop or download folder)
  • Now go to the download location, right-click on the driver file and select “Properties”.
  • Under “Compatibility” tab, check the box which says “Run this program in compatibility mode for” and select “Windows 7”.
  • Also, select the box “Run this program as an administrator”.
  • Apply and save the settings.
  • Now double-click and run the program.

That should get the solution center working.

Alternatively, you can use HP Scan and Capture app to scan. HP Scan and Capture is a simple and fun application that captures photos or documents from any* HP scanning device or your computer's built-in camera.  These images can be previewed, edited, saved, and shared to other applications.

You can go to http://hp.care/2bUVkrw to download and install the scan and capture app.

If the issue still persists, follow the steps mentioned here: http://hp.care/2bUFEIG

Let me know if that helps!

Cheers.

I truly think that this is the best explanation AND solution I have ever gotten from HP in a decade or so.

I am too busy to troubleshoot, but it makes perfect sense as far as solution center goes.

I will report back after I fix my printer.

Does this incompatible issue prevent the installation now?  Since January 2016, I have downloaded SC w/Win10.

Either intervening updates have made it worse,  maybe using "deep" uninstall programs are still leaving remnants behind, and because of the fact that every download says SC and OCR are already installed (they are not).

However, I am always willing and ready to learn.  I could be uterrly wrong, also.

I understand that you answered other questions.

Thank you.

Hi @CiaoBella1,

Thank you for posting back.

Follow the steps suggested by @Jeet_singh and test if everything works fine.

You did not answer this question: Does this incompatible issue prevent the installation now?  Since January 2016, I have downloaded SC w/Win10.    Clearer - is this what is holding up the installation?

............If so, somebody needs to reprogram the HP FIX, based on collected information, because it has been utterly useless.

NB:  I subscribed to two forums - "email me when someone replies is checked."

Could you tell me why I am not getting email notifications?

I have never gotten emails from HP Support.

Thank you.

Hi @CiaoBella1,

Thank you for replying,

I'm glad you pointed out that as I might have overlooked it, Yes, it might sometimes create problems. Since you are still having issues installing HP solution center, I would suggest you follow the steps to uninstall the printer drivers and then install the basic printer drivers which should help for printing,

Link to download the basic drivers for your HP printer: Click here

Please let me know how it goes for further assistance. In the meantime, I'll look for an alternate solution.

It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.

I finally got my printer working again.  (It was a printhead issue with unkinked YET unbundled tubes.)

I followed your instructions.

A message came up after clicking the download that says, This Program is not intended to run in Win 7.

I think, but I am not sure, that the download you suggested says Off13, but the file said Off14.

Next?

It looked so promising.

Thank you.

First you gave me the download to Full Drivers (2015). Your follow-up post gives me a link to the Basic - 1/8 the size and three years earlier.

The Fossette told me to follow your instructions.

I followed the first set.

I guess I'll try the second, but...

This is nuts.

Thank you.

Are you kidding me?

I could not install the Full Drivers because of the error: This Program is not intended to run in Win 7.

I installed the basic driver.  I do not know the purpose of the basic driver.

Anything that I could do from my laptop before, I can still do.

I was hoping to get Solution Center back.

NO, NO, No. Your solution did NOT work.

I do not know why you,  Jeet Singh,  gave me a link to a Basic Driver and a link to the Full Driver in the same response.

Basic Driver doesn't contain what I need to get a fully functioning OJ 8500.   I am sure you already know that.

The full driver cannot be downloaded in compatibility mode, for some reason that I do not understand.

I am going to ask AGAIN, why, when I have subscribed to my post to receive email notifications, I do NOT get them. ever.  Does ONLY RSS work?

Sorry I was too pissed to get my answers right when responding to The Follette and you in two posts.

Thank you.
