I have a printer in my vacation home that I don't use too much or often.  When I returned to my home and started printing, I saw smoke or steam coming from the vents on the top of the output tray door.  It happens after the 3rd of 4th copy.  I doesn't smell, and I would guess it may be coming from the cartridge itself.  The cartridge is only about a year old, and the printer is about 2.5 years old.

I am very concerned that this may be a fire/safety issue, and would like some help on this from HP.  I don't want to pay for premium support service for this kind of question. Seems like HP should have some way to report issues like these directly and also be concerned if their product is defective or a fire hazard.

Hi,

Please check the following document, It is very likely to be the issue due to paper storage or printer location to cause Steam or Moisture which might appear to be smoke, this is more that reasonable to be the case for a vacation home vs. your usage with the printer...
