I frequently use clear name and address labels. When i print on my HP OfficeJet Pro 8630, regardless of how long I use them after printing, they smudge. I tried using a photo option but they still smudged. Is there another option beside going back to strictly using white labels? Currently, I am putting a piece of Scotch tape over each label.

Other than that, I LOVE the printer - ever so much better than the Brother boat anchor it replaced.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Your Printer:

HP Officejet Pro 8630 e-All-in-One Printer

Your User Guide

The printer's User Guide does not specifically state it can print on "clear labels" but it may well do so -- this printer does offer a great many options.

You might try adjusting the Media type (paper type) to something that "sort of" matches your labels.

For example, if the labels provide a "glossy" finish, you might try using a setting for "glossy photo" paper.  You might also try the "iron on transfer" setting.

You might take a look at the following and see if using a template style software would be useful.

Note:  I suspect you may still need to fuss with the Media type -- the printer does respond differently to different "paper".  For example, the amount of ink that is used, the drying time, and the amount of color used on the output (print) differs according to the "surface" of the paper on which you are printing.

Tried using glossy paper print option, didn't work, labels were blured, tried the matte option, and they came out better. Still smudged a bit, I'll see how they are in the morning.

Clear labels look nicer when printing name and address labels, but if I need to go back to regular white one, it is not a great hardship.

Thanks for your help.

You are welcome -- I am sorry it is not working as you wish; I can understand the desire for the clear labels, especially if the envelopes are other than plain white.

I have looked into this a bit - reinstalled my Avery Design and Print software and then went looking for "clear" labels.  There are at least two products in this category -- you want to make sure you have the "inkjet" labels and not the labels for laser printers.  Again, not sure if that is the issue; the printer may just dislike the clear label surface.

Edits - corrected the examples

Example: Avery® Easy Peel® Clear Address Labels for Inkjet Printers 18660, 1" x 2-5/8", Pack of 300

If you do have to go back to ugly old white labels, you could do as I have done - add a tiny photo or artwork to the label to create a "dressy" appearance.

Example:

Good Luck!
