I had to reload the printer driver and now i can not scan.  It gives me an error message "HP CLJM477 Scan not found.

I have ran the installer as administrator etc but will not complete the software installation.  I have used the HP print and Scan doctor with the same issue.  I can print to the printer, but during the installation at completion it won't print a test page.

The Print and Scan Doctor program shows the software is not installed (which i have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times.)

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

Can you try this alternative scan solution:

HP Scan Extended

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

Let us know if that works.

I have downloaded the HP Scan Extended and receive this message:

Scanner communication cannot be established.  Ensure product is powered on, check connection, and ensure your network is functioning properly.

goes on to say to restart the product and try again which i have.

It also asked if you installed this device by IP Address, saying i might need to update the IP address.  Use the update IP address item in the start menu entry for this device.  (Where is this located?)

I am using this on a home network.  I also have checked to see if Norton was blocking it.

Hi,

Can you try using a TCP/IP port?  That's provided that the printer is connected to the network.

Create a TCP IP port

1. Print a Configuration Page to get the printer's IPv4 address (you can also tap on the wireless icon on the Front panel of your Printer to get the IP address)
2. On your PC, go to Control Panel, from Devices and Printers, right click the printer and left click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.
3. Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.
4. Type in the proper IP address for the printer.

This video resource will show you how to do it:

Create & Use TCP IP port

Note that you can ALWAYS revert back to the original port that the HP software installed by selecting the HP port under the Ports tab (in Printer Properties)

Let us know if that works
