There is a bug in the HP print driver where by some but not all pdf filess will crash the printer and leave the job stuck in the print queue with the "Status" of "Error". This happens when printing from either Preview or Adobe Reader
The same file will print just fine when sent to an Epson printer. Searching through my system console logs I have found a crash file for the hpcp1020 process each time I tried to print.
I did find the workarond instructions that work but only if I use Adobe Reader which is a bother since my default PDF viewer is the Preview app. Reader has a really clunky UI and does not interface with the apple print systme nearly as easily.
I have both the crash log and a sample file if anyone at HP is intersted in trying to fix this bug.

To determine if this is actually a bug in the driver this would need to happen on more than one Mac computer. Install this printer on a different computer, and let me know if you experience the same issues?

definately exactly the same problem here, seems that if you print from adobe using the "print as image" option you can just about work around it. But that means that all the colours get used which is not very efficient. I am certain it is a driver issue but am debating taking the printer back on warranty...

I now have another "ebill" that will crash the HP driver. I can use the workaround of using Adobe Reader and use the "Print as image" option but I cannot get that to print 2-sided. So I just now printed 14 pages single sided.
This is really frustrating. I purchased this printer in large part to make these prints for my records.
FHI both pdf bills in question print just fine to my epson inkjet photo printer but I can't easily do double sided printing there either.
Please find a fix. This is standard stuff that you should be able to handle.
