Problem I'm having is when the print carriage is moving during warmup or from being turned on it sounds like the carriage is jumping teeth of a belt is slipping over the sprocket teeth when it is trying to find home. once it stops the head alignment and print quality seems ok but worried something is out of whack. Help...

Welcome back to the HP Forums, I'd be happy to help you with your printer issue!
Going through your post, this looks like an issue with the printer carriage. I ‘d suggest you clean the print head and the carriage to try and fix the issue.
Go to http://hp.care/2pcXZWV and follow the steps listed under Solution 3-6
If the issue persists, I’d advise you clean the print head assembly. You will get the detailed instructions here: http://hp.care/2pdjUNo
