HP DeskJet 2132 All-in-One
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

Printed page has missing lines OR lines that have been “magnified” off of the printed page.
Won’t line up text on envelopes either – prints with the left half of the return address cut off.
The text alignment can sometimes be way off, like it is printing the magnified center of a page on the printed page – with text that was near the sides completely missing from the printed page.
Print Head alignment sometimes helps with this, sometimes not.

I uninstalled and reinstalled with the full package that makes you go online to “Activate”.
And I did wait for this full package installer to ask me to plug in the USB cable (before I did plug it in).
And I used the latest Print & Scan doctor – only to see what a half baked app this is.

Does not appear to be a partially plugged print head, since gray backgrounds have no missing lines.
When Print with Max dpi = Yes – the printing is extremely slow – so this is not really a fix.
Could this be a problem with the paper feed?
Or still something with the print head?
Or a bad driver issue?

The only fix of this issue I can find is to use the Max DPI option.
Properties >> Paper / Quality tab >> Advanced >> Print in Max dpi = Yes
When I change Print in Max dpi back to = No, the missing lines come back.

Please see attached scans of 2 pages – the 1st with Max dpi = Yes, the 2nd with Max dpi = No.

Product name: HP DeskJet 2132 All-in-One Printer
Model name: F5S32A
Windows 8.1, 32 bit

Out of curiosity:
Does the whole file load into the printer’s memory, and then print (“in house”)?
Or does it get line by line from the PC?

The banding of the gray area in the second print as well as the clipping o text look like an electrical connection issue between the printer and printhead.  It may help to clean the electrical connections as shown in step 3 of the document here.  Selecting "Best" in the Paper/Quality may be a workaround, it should be faster then "Max DPI" but still fill in the missing areas in a pinch.

To verify the electrical issue (and later verify it is corrected print a diagnostic page as shown in Step 8 of the document here.

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page in Windows

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page in Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista.
  1. Load U.S. Letter or A4 size, unused, plain paper into the input tray.
  2. Press the Power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  3. Open or search for the HP folder in your list of installed software programs, click the folder for your printer, and then click the name of your printer.
The HP Printer Assistant software opens.
  4. On the HP Printer Assistant window, click Maintain Your Printer.
  5. Click the Device Reports tab, and then click Print Diagnostic Information ().

I should have mentioned that I was already using the “Best” setting which had little effect.

Thanks for that link... I did not find that about the contacts in other searches.

Went to clean the ink cartridge contacts and could see where one of those tiny top tabs of the contact circuitry was folded over and kinked.  It must have been the cracked connections within this little tab that were causing the problem.
This little tab stuck up at 90 degrees to the contact circuitry and I rubbed it a couple times while cleaning the contacts. I must have severed the connections completely since now it won’t print at all.

Is there any kind of defect warranty on these cartridges?

Thanks

The document here has information on the cartridge warranty.
