HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdw

Hello,

I’m experiencing an issue when trying to print from my HP Color LaserJet Pro M478f-9f using my Apple MacBook. Every time I attempt to print, I receive an error message stating “Expired Certificate - Check the printer for errors,” and the print job gets paused.

Could you please help me understand why this error is occurring and how I can resolve it? I suspect it might be related to the security certificate settings, but I’m unsure of how to proceed. Any guidance or steps to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Im using Mac Os 15.1 Beta

I have the exact same problem - did you find a solution? I have tried restarting everything, checking wifi connections. I was able to print from my iPhone but not from my MacBook. I am using 15.0

I have the same issue printing from macOS 15 to OfficeJet Enterprise Color Flow MFP X585, getting the "expired certificate" error and it pauses the printing

Resolved this by updating the expired certificate under Networking - Authorization - Jetdirect Certificate

A self-signed certificate is fine if you have no other

Create a new self-signed certificate.  Warning: This operation will overwrite the currently installed certificate with a new self-signed certificate.

What does that mean? where do I find this?

Odd that the instructions only tell you how to do it from a Windows PC. If you have a MAC desktop you should see all the same options as a Windows PC in the EWS

This video is updated https://youtu.be/kcgv-jHMCuA When you print from macOS, an Encryption Credentials Expired error message may display and you are unable to print. This error displays when the Embedded Web Server, or EWS, has an expired certificate. For other helpful videos go to ...

There is no "printer settings" tile in the current version of the HP Smart app.

Hello JPD9,

Thank you for posting this workaround for the Expired Certificate kicking out the Paused error. I have been working this problem for the last couple of days. I updated my Mac OS, updated the printer software, went through countless trials and more errors,  more setups, more reboots, went through the hell of getting the wireless connection to work on my 2017 HP LaserJet Pro 201 after all the setup finally took, and after all that got exactly the same message, Printing Paused, only THIS  time it finally showed me the Expired Certificate message, see printer for error, of which there was no sign. At the very bottom of this long message thread I come to find your message, apparently only posted YESTERDAY afternoon, and it WORKED.

THANK YOU.
