HP Recommended

MBA (MacBookAir) 2020.

MacOS Big Sur 11.5.2

Beware!!

HP doesn't like this 'unable to scan' problem. This forum and others are full of the same problem, but us unimportant clients are not informed. All HP does is recommend various steps, of which none work. Their Robot customer service knows nothing except giving unrelated 'solutions'. I think even HP techs themselves do not know. Yesterday I spent 1x2 hours and 1x1 hour with the tech on my MBA. He went through all those worthless recommended HP steps, but to no avail. The problem persists.

First, the excuse is that it's caused by my MBA and you have to do a clean install.....who likes to do that?!?

Then it's the cache on Safari, which, after emptying, doesn't change a thing.

Eventually you're told this is all caused by Safari. To scan with the HP Smart app you have to log in your account, even if you are already logged in and connected to your printer/scanner (logical?). But logging in does not work: you get an enormously long code in an error message. You're then told to contact Apple to find out 'how to repair Safari.' But there is NOTHING wrong or to repair with Safari. Also, Apple says that the error code is generated by the HP Smart app, and NOT by Apple, so HP should know.

Well, I gave up after months of trying to have this solved.

Printing using my HP from my MBA works fine directly from the document I need to print. NOT using the HP Smart app.

To scan I use HP Smart app on my iPhone WHICH WORKS PERFECTLY. I then email the scan from my iPhone to my MBA.

Oh, and don't bother with the HP Easy Scan app.....that app cannot connect to the HP even though the Mac is connected.

The Apple tech told me that maybe HP will be able one day in the distant future to deliver a quality app that works.
