Designjet 5500ps
Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

Hey everyone, I'm hoping one of you can give me some clarification because I am at my absolute wit's end. Our Designjet 5500ps printer (42" capacity) locked up on me and forced me to do a restart via the power button (on the face of the unit, not the switch in back). Now I'm stuck in an endless loop of the startup getting to 5% then giving me the following error message:

System Error ffffffff 033c02ee

Restarting via the power button and/or the switch in back does not help.

I found that, if I open the printer's window or raise the paper lever during startup, it will OCCASIONALLY boot to 20% or, in a rare occasion, 70%. Once it hits 70% though it freezes and refuses to boot further.

I'm aware that the ffffffff codes are normally Firmware issues. I updated the firmware for the JetDirect server it's printing from but that didn't help. I have a file for the actual printer's firmware update (HP5500PostS_S_56_07.upg) but have been unable to install it (all instructions on how to do so involve software I can't find and/or using the printer's IP address, which just brings me to the JetDirect server and only allows me to update JetDirect firmware).

We need this printer back online so any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
