We have a Designjet T830. We've been using bond and older rolls of photo paper since we got it. We needed to load a new 36" roll, which previously never had (only up to 24" rolls before. It's a brand new 36"x100ft HP Universal Gloss Photo Paper roll... it doesn't fit properly. The roll cover rubs the paper and doesn't move freely. I get it to load the roll but as soon at it tries to pull the roll it stops and cancels a print.
What can we do? We can't order thinner rolls of photo paper... and even so it's absolute garbage that an HP roll won't fit an HP plotter and function properly.

Hi, Thanks for contacting with HP Support Forum.
You can easily use 36"X164ft paper but depands on paper thikness. You just check paper guide cover (Spindle side cover) and roll paper area, if it is over it can't easily move.
You may check your rol paper actual size and thikness.
The below paper size are supported for this printer:
HP Universal Satin Photo Paper (P/N: Q1421B) - 914 mm x 30.5 m (36 in x 100 ft)
HP Universal Heavyweight Coated Paper (P/N: Q1413B) - 914 mm x 30.5 m (36 in x 100 ft)
HP Universal Bond Paper (P/N: Q1397A) - 914 mm x 45.7 m (36 in x 150 ft)
I hope that answers will support to concern adequately. Let me know! Good luck

I'd help if those rolls were clearly stated in the manual... and that we spend thousands on a plotter that will only be able to load those rolls. There's a maximum paper thickness stated, but not what that means for the roll's thickness.
I will cut the roll down and waste the paper to get it to load and work. This is ridiculous that an HP paper roll doesn't work on an HP plotter as is.
