Hi @Becky13,

Good Day.  A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the post regarding information on how to scan and copy from your HP printer using the copy button. I will be delighted to assist you here.

Great description of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. Smiley Happy

  • Are you trying to copy directly from the printer without any intervention from the computer?
  • Are you using a computer along with the printer to scan images and save it on the computer?
  • If it is the latter, then please provide the operating system that is being used along with its version. Is it a Windows or MAC operating system?

.For a start please try this link on how to copy directly from the printer.

It gives you a step by step guide on how to do it.

Step 2: Load the original document or photo, and then print the copy job

Load the original document or photo on the scanner glass.

  1. Press the Power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already on.

  2. Lift the scanner lid.

  3. Place the original document or photo with the print side down on the scanner glass, and then position the document or photo according to the engraved guides around the glass.

  4. Close the scanner lid.

  5. Press the Start Copy Black button () or the Start Copy Color button () on the control panel to start the copy job.

You can increase the number of copies by pressing the button multiple times. Copying starts 2 seconds after the last button press.

If you want to scan to the PC on a windows computer then you could check this document How to Scan from the Computer (Windows). for step by step instructions and FAQs.

If you want to scan to the computer on a MAC then you could check this document How to Scan from the Computer (Mac). or step by step instructions and FAQs.

Also look up the printer’s user guide document for more information. Please check pages 49 to 56 on how to copy and scan

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care now and have a superb week ahead. Smiley Happy

The problem is not the button...I know how to scan documents, but when I try to scan a photo, I get a picture with a white background.  My other printer has a 'photo' option to avoid the white background.

Well, after fiddeling back and forth for over an hr trying to get to the support site itself it sent me to a darn forums...
Wth happened with the oportunity to send an good old email with a description of my issue and to get a response.

Now... to my issue.
When My Deskjet All-In-One 3632 is connected to my computer by WI-FI my option to scan any documents dissappears...
I can only use the print function... is there something wrong on my end or is the printer really that crappy.

Now before you tell me to do anything here is what I have already done (God I'm here aren't I and If i hadn't tried everything else I wouldn't be here! and yes I am frustrated an annoyed)

1. I have already downloaded and installed the drivers from the webpage
2. I have checked that the printer is connected to the WI-FI hence I can still print
3. I have enabled EWS however that seems to nothing good what-so-ever
4. Please click the link so you can see the screenshot!  Missing Scan Tab

And I also wanna know where is the darn button to scan directly from the scanner and onto the computer without having to use the darn software (that obviously doesn't work when on WI-FI anyways) since My SCAN tab is missing... duh...

Just wanted to thank you for your post that saved the life of my HP DeskJet printer and, yes, scanner.  Your question,"Where is the scan button?"  has haunted me since I bought the thing some time ago.  I even downloaded something online that worked for a while and quit.  Such a simple question, and the answer, I was told in a chat session on HP, was to buy a $50 fix.  The phone numbers she gave me directed me back to their web site.  Even with the help of one of my tech smart kids, we were getting nowhere.  She finally found it for me, but your post got me through the frustation with a smile.  I do hope you found that darned elusive button.
