HP OfficeJet Pro 8710
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I connected my wife's laptop to the printer wirelessly. It printed 1 test page ok then came up with the message:

'There is a problem with the supply system. Try replacing the affected cartridge witha different non-empty cartridge.'

However it doesn't tell me which cartridge is empty. How can I tell?

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 and getting 'Supply System Problem' Error Message.

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well,

  • Reset the printer.
  • Clean the ink cartridges.
  • Update the printer firmware.
  • Reseat the printhead up to three times.

If the issue is resolved and you appreciate my help,

Please click the "Accept as Solution" button and the "Thumbs Up".

Let me know how you make out.

Cheers!

I tried that and it didnt work so i just replaced all the ink cartridges one at a time until it worked. Had to replace all of them - even though it was probably only one that had run out. Perhaps you could ask your techies to provide some sort of "Ink indication monitoring system" to tell users which cartridge has run out.

Mind you - you won't sell as many ink cartridges that way so best keep us guessing!

And I'll work with them to make a few changes, just as you've suggested 😉
