I did the reinstall twice, and it works as long as the device is on and on-line.  When its all shot down for the evening, and restart in the morning, then the printer is off-line again.  I can't leave the laptop running all night and or 24/7.

any other ideas.

yesterday, I reinstalled the s/w from scratch and this morning its off line again.  its really getting frustrating.

A big thanks for an elegant solution to a real pain in the butt problem. I've suffered this issue for months until I came across your advice.

One thing I would say is that it was easier for me to change (and confirm) my static IP address directly interfacing at the printer and not bothering with the Utility.

Cheers!

Notice this only happens when printing from a web site (any web sites, inlcuding email) if its Word or others....I have no problems. how is this different?

Just a quick question. The solution I found was to install the 8620/8625 with a fixed IP address. The original post gives instructions. If you go through the steps, this should fix the problem for Windows 10 (possibly earlier versions as well). Were you able to do those steps? If all you do is the regular installation of the software, you will not fix the problem.
