I have this printer less than a month and I have had to change the black toner about 3 times already it prints about 300-400 pages then i get the eeror message that the ink is low and to replace toner, this is frustrating because it is costing me a lot of money so I think something is wrong with the printer i have tried a couple of different things but nothing works can anyone offer some advice please.

Toner low does not mean replace the toner, only to have a replacement on hand when it completely runs out of toner. See the link below for settings you can make.

i know i did all of this before and the black toner runs out with a maximum of 300 pages, when a toner suppose to last at least for 1000 pages which is why i am thinking my printer may be defective

What are you printing. Most toner cartridge toner specs are based on 5% coverage on the page. If you are printing lots of graphics then it will not last as much. Also check on your quality settings and using the best setting will use more toner. Also are you using regular hp toner cartridges because these printers come with starter cartridges which have much less toner and only last about 300 pages so make sure that the cartridges you are getting are regular toners and not starter toners.

yes I am using original hp cartidges and also it is mostly text and I have set printer quality as draft just to see if that made a difference and it did not...
