Hello,

We are having an issue with our control panel. The printer powers up and prints but nothing can be done from contol panel. Its blank or like its not powered on.

Called in for support with this issue and they walked me through a fix. Opening up panel and disconnecting and reconnecting micro USB. That worked then and a few times after (while under warranty) but is not working now.

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and a possible fix?

Thanks

Hope that you have already checked the control panel connections.   It could be hardware issue and the control panel might need replacment.

Are you able to use the device for any functions currently?  If the device is working with intermittent touchscreen issue, then you may try to upgrade device firmware (when device is working).

Hello, I have seen these models have this issue out of the box, either when it goes to sleep, or if it is powered down. You will have to replace the control panel, if the machine is still under warranty then you can get with HP and see about them sending you a new one. Also, when you replace the control panel, I would suggest turning off sleep mode, as well as, raising the time on the "inactivity timeout" setting.

Hope this helps......

When the HP LaserJet 500 mfp m575 goes into powersave mode (sleep) the control panel is darkened to save power. The fact that you can print implies the device is still operable.  When the control panel is dark and you send a print job to the device, does the control panel illuminate (it should)?

In addition to checking the electrical connections, which it sounds like you have done, please ensure the MFP is running the most current version of firmware. (You can get there via http://www.hp.com/, select Support > Download drivers. Enter the product name. From the produc page select "Firmware/BIOS upgrade," the "Latest firmware versions.") Here's another test you can do to see if the control panel hardware is working.   On the back side of the control panel in the center, there's a small hole with a test button.  When the panel is blank, use a bent paper clip and push the test button.  You should see a white screen with some icons at the bottom.  Touch the grid icon, then touch the screen in several locations - you should see dots where you touched the screen.  You can also swipe across the screen and you should see a trail of dots.  Touch the button at the center to exit this test, and the red x icon to exit the test menu.

If the test menu works, the control panel hardware is working and your blank screen is happening because the printer is not sending an image to display.  In this case, a firmware upgrade (described in the previous post) should fix the problem.  If the control panel test menu doesn't work and the screen is still blank, you probably need to have the control panel replaced.

I hope this helps,
