Envoy 4500
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

After I set up my new printer, everything worked great until I tried to scan something. I recieve this message:

The computer is not responding. Check if the USB cable attached or network working properly.

I have connected the cable, unplugged it, reconnected, restarted the computer. Nothing changes.

I see no option to proceed wireless.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums. Can you try the following:

Please Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor (PSDR) tool to diagnose and fix your problem

http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?h_pagetype=s-926&h_lang=en&h_client=s-h-e016-1&h_keyword=dg-PDU

Else, do uninstall and reinstall the FULL feature software following these steps:

1. Uninstall the software in your computer
2. Download and save the FULL feature software (do not install it online)

The following resource will help you :

http://123.hp.com/us/en/

Key in your printer model, Operating System and download & install the FULL feature software.

3. Install the FULL feature “Saved” software

Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.

If you are not sure how to do this, the following resource will walk you through the steps:

How to Uninstall Download & Reinstall a Printer software

Hope that helps!

Thank you for your suggestion, though it did not work.

I have sent an email to HP but no reply.I see no phone number to call either.

Hi @JW45

Was the FULL feature install not successful?

Did you see any installation errors?

We'd suggest that you try using this uninstaller from Microsoft and try reinstalling again:

If you are able to install the printer with USB connectivity successfully, you will be able to convert it to wireless.  These examples will show you how it's done:

HP Envy 4520 Download and install software and connect with USB connection- Part 1

HP Envy 4520 Convert a USB connected printer to Wireless Connection – Part 2

Let us know if that works!
