A very warm welcome to the HP community. A very good day to you.
I understand that you have an HP LaserJet Pro MFP M26nw Printer and are unable to install the printer. Not worry, I'll do my best to help you. You've done a remarkable job performing the steps.
To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- What operating system are you using?
- Is the printer connected via USB or wirelessly?
Meanwhile, I did some research and suggest you to perform the following steps to fix this issue:
- Please download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor software. This is a free tool for Windows to help resolve issues with the printer drivers.
If the printer drivers still do not get installed then I suggest you to uninstall the existing printer drivers from the root level and then reinstall them through the HP website:
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
- Select your HP printer.
- Select Uninstall.
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
- In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
- Click on Drivers tab.
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
- Select OK.
- Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
- Close Devices and Printers.
Once you perform the above steps, you may download and install the printer drivers from this link.
NOTE: If it is a USB connection then do not connect the printer initially. Begin the installation first and in between the installation there will be a prompt to connect the printer and that's when you may connect it.
I hope this information helps. Let me know what happens. Good luck! 🙂

Hello, @JAMES87SG
I see that you were interacting with @MKazi. I'd like to jump in with a suggestion 🙂
Going through your post, I see that you were able to install the printer the first time except for HP Scan. Does that mean you can print fine?
If so, I’d suggest using the HP Scan and Capture to scan. Go to http://bit.ly/2oAYXby to download and install the HP Scan and capture app on your PC.
HP Scan and Capture is a simple and fun application that captures photos or documents from any HP scanning device or your computer's built-in camera. These images can be previewed, edited, saved, and shared to other applications. Here are the detailed instructions on how to use the app: http://hp.care/2nZfg1K
If the issue persists with the installation, I'd like to know the following details to provide with specific steps:
1) What is the operating system on your PC?
2) How are you trying to connect the printer?
Let me know if that helps!
Good luck 🙂
