Product: Officejet 5740
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I am unable to choose document or photo when scanning. the scan does an automatic jpg.  The scan shortcut option does not show up. How can I correct this?

Scan doctor says printer is current on update.

Scanning issues…

Please try this scan solution:
 
HP Scan Extended

For Windows:   ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

Make searchable PDF scans with this free scanning software -   https://www.naps2.com/

 

Now for a Word document, you need a OCR program.

 

Free OCR software is available on the web.  Try these two as they work great.

http://www.ocrtoword.com/
