The solution that worked for me:

1. Start - Run or Win+r  - type in "printmanagement.msc" or "printui /s /t2" and open the program
2. Scroll down to [Custom Filters] "All Drivers" or "Print Servers -> (Your Computer) -> Drivers"
3. Delete all Hp printer drivers from old (and current) installs.

You may have a different kind of box appear after running printui /s /t2 but basically it's just a case or removing the old driver.

Print Management can also be found in Control Panel > Administrative tools > Print Management in Pro versions of Windows.

 Retry the installation.

THIS WORKED AND IT IS THE ONLY THING THAT WORKED. I HAD ESCALATED ALL THE WAY UP THE HP FOOD CHAIN TO A SPECIALIST AND EVEN RECEIVED A NEW PRINTER UNDER WARRANTY AND NOTHING WORKED UNTIL THIS. THIS IS THE BONAFIDE ANSWER AND ALL OTHERS ARE A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME.

BRILLIANT AND SIMPLE AND CORRECT.

SO GRATEFUL I HAD TO SHOUT!!!!!

I am getting the error  0x800f020b trying to update my driver for a wireless HP printer. Reading up on the error it says that I have to be connected to the device to update. I am connected wireless but its a work printer so I cannot connect by USB. What can I do?
