Officejet Pro 6830
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

I have an Officejet Pro 6830 set up for network printing on my network.  Primarily used by 2 Windows 7 computers. Always worked great.

Recently I had the system drive go out on one of my computers and I had to replace it. I was able to back up and restore the operating system from the drive before it died (I was getting SMART errors). so the system is the same as it was, except I couldn't print to the printer now for some reason.

I re-downloaded the drivers and re-installed them.

the HP software seems to be able to talk to the printer. meaning the HP installation software can print. I cannot print anything from windows however.

Not even a test page.

it says "Test page failed to print - would you like to view the print troubleshooter for assistance?"

I notice that the test page doesn't even show up in the document queue.

if I say Yes it comes back and says troubleshooting could not identify the problem.

I have removed and reinstalled the print drivers.

I installed the HP print and scan doctor, every time I run it it says the same thing "some issues were found and fixed with your product" it asks me if I want to print a test page. this will work.. but windows still cannot print.

what should I do now?

Hi,

Thank you for contacting HP forums.

Going through your post, I understand that your Officejet 6830 printer not able to print after replacing the Hard drive.

Please follow this trouble shooting steps to fix the issue

Try to make a stand alone copy to prove the functionality of the printer , If its making copy there is no issue with printer hardware

Try to setup printer with another computer to check whether its windows issue or computer issue

Hi,

Thanks for trying trouble shooting.

Now you got the answer that, its not a printer issue.

Its definitely a computer issue try to re-install the OS (operating system) and re-install printer software and you are good to go.

I have reinstalled the printer driver several times. Reinstalling the operating system is NOT an option.
