I have two computers at my workplace set up with Deskjet 5600 printers. We switched to Windows 7 a couple months ago. One user said she noticed this issue of pages randomly printing pages single lines of text last week, but it seems to have stopped. The other user with this type of printer only started noticing the issue today and has had about 20 pages wasted so far. In the pages where the text is legible, we can tell which program that the text is originating from, but actual print jobs created from that program are formatted very differently.
The solution discussed in this thread does not seem to apply to the printers we are using. As far as I can tell, the PCL6 driver has nothing to do with this type of printer. I tried installing it, but it didn't affect the existing installation of these printers. In the printer properties that are installed for our printers, there is no "Printer Status Notification" under "Installable Options."
I've tried removing the printer and then readding it, but this issue is so random that I don't know if it made a difference yet.

I am having the same problem with the discovery tree pages. I tried the status notification fix and it persists and if I go back it ihas re enabled. This is printing a ton and I really need to find a way to stop it. So far nothing has worked.

I installed Windows 10 and had trouble with the 2605dn driver that was installed as it would only print in monochrome. Having just bought new cartridges for my Colour Laserjet 2605dn, I was not best pleased.
Managed to find another driver which printed in colour but every time I turn it on the printer send a sheet through with "GET /DevMgmt/ProductConfigDyn.xml HTTP/1.1
HOST: " It wastes paper (and ink). How do I get it to stop?
