Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I already have the HP print software for my OfficeJet Pro 8740 installed, and i saw on the website there was an updated version of the software to the one i have.

 

How can i update the software. On my old Windows Vista machine, there was a program called HP Update, where it would update it, but on my windows 10 machine there is no such program.

Welcome to HP Support Forum. Please let us know:

 

(a) What is your computer ?

(b) Is it an HP machine ?

(c) Does it run Windows 10 pre-installed ?

 

If YES for (b) and (c), you can use HP Support Assistant on your computer to run update; otherwise please go to the following site to download software and drivers and install to your computer/printer.

It is a dell laptop and came with windows 10 pre-installed.

Hi,

 

Dell machines won't have HP Support Assistant therefore you have to download and install your self using software and drivers from the following link:

 

         https://support.hp.com/au-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-pro-8740-all-in-one-printer-series/790...

Is it possible to download HP support Assistant, or will it not work with my dell in order to update the hp software, as the previous HP update software worked with any computer.
