I spent hours trying to follow all possible advice on gettting my Deskjet F2180 to work with a newly bought Hewlett Packard Computer, updated from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 immediately on purchase. No good !  It workded beaurifuly on my wife's Toshiba computer updated to Windows 10, which is INFURIATING to say the least !

SOLUTION : Uninstall  it (simply using the control panel).  Plug the printer into the computer. Switch it on.

Go to control panel. It is shown there as some kind of HP printer, now without the model number. But just wait.

Slowly, without you doing anything, Windows installs it . You can probably see something happening in the taskbar.

Finally, the model number (or an approximation to it) appears in the control panel, and lo and behold, you can scan.

I CANNOT UNDERSTAND:

1) Why Hewlett Packared has not arranged things so that their scanners work with their own computers with Windows 10 anyway.

2) Why Hewlett Packard do not give people this simple solution, instead of getting them to download this and that and go round and round in circles  for hours without any success.  It's a poor show.

I tried to scan today after upgrading to windows 10.  It says "We can't find a scanner". I reloded the driver on my HP photosmart C6180 all-in-one with no help.  I can print and copy with no problems.  It just does not find it when I try scanning.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the required software.

Have you uninstalled it completely, all trace of it, printer as well as scanner using the Control Panel ?

Then plug it in, switch it on, and simply wait a few minutes .

Good luck !

We all seem to need luck with this, which is NOT how it should be. I shall not be buying Hewlett-Packard again. In my case, both the computer and the printer/scanner are Hewlett-Packard. You would think they would get that to work, or at least comment on it.

It's just tough. When I tried to get help, they pointed out that the printer/scanner was out of guarantee. So buying a new Hewlett-Packard computer has the effect of stopping the Hewlett-Packard printer/scanner working, and that's just tough ?  Does anybody think that's OK ?  (It worked with a Toshiba computer on Windows 10 with no problem).

Anyway, try it. It's very simplistic, but mine works fine now. You will be relieved to hear that if you get the (apparently compulsory) update to the original Windows 10, it still works afterwards.  (You get this only after a month with the original one, and not if you started with the improved one, which would be from the end of November onwards).

As so many others have already indicated after installing Windows 10 I can no longer scan from the computer but instead have to use the touch screen control panel on the printer itself. I get a message "Scanner Unreachable". I have no problems with printing, it's just the scan function initiated from the computer. I have an HP Laser Jet Pro 400 color MFP (M475dw). I have it hardwired to the computer and not using it wireless. Any advice?

Try asking Hewlett-Packard. They ought to be able to answer this, really.

As a result of what I just wrote, they awarded me what they call a "responsive badge". I would be much more impressed if THEY  would respond, instead of giving me all these badges and promotions. This isn't just a silly game. People can't use their expensive equipment properly any more .

The solution for me turned out to be downloading the HP Support Assistant program which detected that new drivers were available. So I went through the process of uninstalling the printer and then re-installing with the new drivers. Now all is good.

Same problem as well guys!

But this Option gave me Solution.

Simply download the HP Scan and Capture to your AppStore.

Then you have to go to this App everytime you want to Scan or print something!

I don`t actually like to register/make an extra account in this Forum

but  I just want to share and help you guys.

I did try some other Solutions, but this one works well!

Give me feedback, if it helps!

then Go to your App not in control panel

Thanks!!!

then go to to your App, not in control panel.
