Hi cardinal9918-
Is this USB or network connected? The HP Printer control app is able to see USB devices, but due to architectural limitations in Win 8 OS, Scan over USB does not work for Windows Store apps.
If network connected and you are still not able to see the device, I might have you enable application logging so we can try to determine the cause (if you'd be willing).
Thanks

Hi cardinal9918-
Sorry, our replies crossed paths!
Some other things to try:
1) Disable any 3rd party firewall software you might have. We've run into problems with 3rd party firewalls in the past, and are actively working to get our app white listed so this doesn't occur in the future.
2) Try manually searching for device via it's IP address. If something is actively blocking our app's attempts to discover devices on the network, sometimes a manual search will work. You can obtain the IP address of your 4620 by navigating on the front panel to network/wireless settings. Then go into HP Scan and Capture app, settings, select device, and then click on "Manual Search" and enter the IP address.
I'd point you at message # 22 in this thread to enable application logging. I'd like to examine that to get a closer look if the above methods fail.

HI cardinal9918-
Do you ever see the status bar get to "Scanning page 1" when attempting ot scan? Or does it just sit there attempting to connect to the IP address of the device and time out? IN this case, certainly an application log would be hugely beneficial in addressing this.
We did post an update to our app a few months ago to address an issue where the scan was submitted but no data was returned back from the device. You would actually get to a state where the device itself would show "now scanning" on the screen, and in order to recover from that you'd have to reset the device. It doesn't sound like this is the issue you are currently facing..
Thanks!

I would select the printer after looking by IP and then it would go to the scan and capture page and just think and timeout....no scanning ever started. I will see what I can do to provide the log this afternoon or evening.
