I have a Macbook Pro with OSX Sierra 10.12.1 - I also have a 1212nf MFP. I can print wirelessly with no problems. I can only Scan if I am connected via USB to the printer. I have tried downloading new drivers, uninstalling the printers and reinstalling.
The OS can see that there is a scanner but it hangs on "Waiting for Scanner". I have also tried using HP Easy Scan - still no luck.
I have gone to the firewall (which shouldnt be an issue since everything is on the same subnet) to ensure that all ports between my laptop and the printer are wide open.
Can you suggest anyway to get this working other than buying a longer USB cable 🙂
Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Forums.
Can you try this:
From the Applications folder delete any existing HP Scan or HP Easy Scan app.
Delete HP Scan or HP Easy Scan by moving it to trash, then empty the trash.
Ensure the latest software is installed, use this link for your printer:
Also, make sure that your drivers are up to date
> Click on the Apple icon, select About this Mac and then press Software Update
>Click Store on the top menu bar, click Reload Page, click Update All if any updated are available.
Hope that helps!

HI,
I suggest installing the latest firmware too, I could experiece issues scanning from the M1210 with Sierra too till getting the latest firmware:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL32626/bi-122318-3/LJM1130_M1210_FW_Upgrade-20150405.dmg
If you may still experience issues, try moving the HP Easy Scan to trash, instead install and try the latest HP Easy Scan (1.7.0) below:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-easy-scan-1_...
If the same persists, try rebootig your router by unplugging its power for 10 seconds, allow it up to 3 minutes to start and ensure you can connect the internet, then restart both the printer and the Mac and try again.
Hope that may help,
Shlomi
