I own an HP color laserjet 4025. Recently I have noticed that there are areas of cracked and overfused toner on the output sheets, even though the sheets are perfectly usable. Is that a sign that the fuser needs to be replaced? Or is there some cleaning that needs to be done?

I do not know what you mean by overfused. That said on this printer most of the time the only time the fuser needs to be replaced is when the printer tells you.  Run a supplies status page from the information menu and you will get a page that will tell you what percentage of life is left in the fuser and transfer kit. You may want to run a menu map from the same information menu and then look for the cleaning page which I think is under the print quality menu. Also are you using OEM toner cartridges or aftermarket since the makeup of the toner could have an effect on how well it binds to the paper.

Thanks for this input. I found that the fuser kit is listed as OK. So I'm not going to worry about any more.
