Laserjet 600 601M
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

The screen on my Laserjet 600 601M  is showing "Maintenance kit low".  The webpage shows it at <10%. What happens when the Maintenance kit gets to 0%? Will the printer stop printing?

Hi,

Once the maintenance kit reaches a too low level the print quality will be affected.

You will need to replace the maintenance kit once the print quality is no longer acceptable.

You may see its lsited on its user guide as a reference, on page 104:

You may also find the 'Perform preventive maintenance' and the 'Reset the maintenance-kit counter' sections on page 100.

Shlomi

Yes, I understand, but will the printer actually stop printing and not allow us to continue?  We might still consider print quality acceptable when the maintenance kit sensor doesn't.  The manual says not to reset the maintenance kit counter just to clear the message, but could we do that? Or would we be voiding the warranty?  The manual also says the maintenance kit is not covered under the warranty. Thanks  -- Patty

Hi Patty,

The Maintaince kit is not covered as part of the printer warranty indeed, it is a replacable part as a toner cartridge.

You should not replace it once reacing any level. as clearly stated by the manual you should only change it once the print quality is affected, it will not stop printing in any way, however I recommend having a replacement maintenance kit available, so once the print quality will get affected it will not prevent you from printing.

Maintenance Kit very low - You do not need to replace the maintenance kit at this time unless print quality is no longer acceptable.
