When trying to air print from my ipad or iphone, paper size switches to envelop

No matter which app I choose, paper size always switches to envelope and doesn't alow me to change.  This happens on my ipad and iphone.  I've tried using word, pages and safari and it always starts as letter size then switches to envelope.  If I choose options, it shows envelope but doesn't allow me to change.  I checked defaults on my OfficeJet setup program and all are letter size.  when printing from my desktop,  it prints letter size with no problem.  iOS 10.2.1

I understand that you are unable to change the paper size when you try to print from your iOS device. Happy to help. 

How is the printer connected to your iOS device?

Are you using AirPrint or Wireless direct to print?

Sorry but that wasn't helpful.   As I mentioned in the subject line, I am trying to air print.  I have already read all of the articles in link you provided and none of them adress the problem I'm having.  Apple devices are connected to the same network.  All of the default settings for my printer specify letter size paper.  If I choose to continue print area is envelope size on letter size paper.  Some of the apps I've tried to print from show paper size as an option, but I am not able to select any size except envelope.  When I went to Apple forum for support, they said that this was not related to apple, that it just passes through options from the printer driver.

They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number.
