Re: HP 6520 scans colour docs as B&W PDFs to MacBook - & photo-scanned colour docs are frag

Bought the HP 6520 today and everyting is working well except scanning function - I have this same issue  as the post below but cannot follow your solution:

Where is the HP Utility - are we talking on the computer or the printer - either way I cannot find it - please advise. Thanks J.

Hi,
The default scan workflow configured to scan documents as Black and White. Make sure to change the scan settings to scan documents with color:

1. Open the HP Utility and select your device.
2. From Scan Settings open the "Scan to Computer".
3. Click the Scan Tasks tab.
4. Select the affected PDF shortcut and click on Edit... (or just double-click the shortcut).
5. In the section of Scan from an HP Device click on the blue triangle or the Show Details button to enlarge the menu.
6. From the enlarged menu now open the drop-down menu next to Mode
7. Now select the Color option and then click on OK to save the changes. The next scanned document using this workflow will appear in color.

Additionally the default scan workflow configured to identify bounded items. Make sure to change the scan settings not to crop the scanned area as following:

1. Open the HP Utility and select your device.
2. From Scan Settings open the "Scan to Computer".
3. Click the "Scan Tasks" tab.
4. Select the JPG Scan Shortcut used to scan, then click Edit.
5. In the section of Scan from an HP Device click on the blue triangle or the Show Details button to enlarge the menu.
6. From the enlarged menu now open the drop-down menu next to Crop To and set as None.
7. Click OK and try scanning again.

Hi,

Click the Finder icon on the Dock, thcn click the Go menu on the top menu bar.

Select and open the Applications folder.

Open the Hewlett-Packard folder.

From there select the HP Utility applications and follow the steps above to modify the scan settings.

What the HELL are you talking about?  WHAT dock? I sure can't find anything like what you seem to be talking about on either the computer or the printer, and I sure as Hell don't find anything called a "dock".

You're an "HP expert"?  Fine.  You need to remember that the people asking questions are not, and your answers are useless if you use terms "normal" people cannot understand.
