I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8620 and have been scanning old pictures. I am getting white spots showing up on dark backgrounds. I have cleaned the glass and pictures appear fine. The spots are not in the same place on the picture. Suggstions???

Hello, @PC15332 – Hope you are well 🙂
Welcome to the HP Forum! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips!
I understand that you are having issues while scanning using the Officejet 8620 printer. To assist you better, I need to know the operating system on your PC and whether the printer can make a regular copy or not. Please do reply with the details.
Alternatively, try the steps listed below:
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Remove USB cable, if present.
- Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
- Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
- Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
- Place a color document face down on the scanner glass and press the color copy option on the printer control panel. Let me know if it makes a good copy or not.
If the copy comes out fine, restart your PC and try scanning again.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
Good luck 🙂
