HP Photosmart 5520
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hey!

I wanted to know if it wa possible to print white on black paper? Since It's required in the present i want to give this christmas.

I already tried it without white ink, since i asked one at the store, who said it should be possible if i had both red/pink, yellow and blue. But it turned out less effective.

Also I've seen that you can get white ink for some printers, but does HP Photosmart 5520 include to that?

Hi @IdaThor,

Welcome to the HP forums! 🙂 Good Day! 🙂 It is a great way to engage, post questions and find resolutions by working with specialists in the HP community. I understand that you are looking for assistance regarding printing in white on black paper.  I’ll be very glad to assist you here.:)

We greatly value your relationship with HP. You are a valued HP customer and we appreciate you greatly for doing business with HP. I take it a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂

I understand your current requirement. However, I am afraid that it is not feasible to do that as the printer is not designed that way. The technology is designed in such a way for this printer that it has four cartridges, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black that mix colors proportionately based on the kind of picture on the screen to produce different colors. However, printing white ink on black is not a feasibility as the color mixing does not assist this requirement.

Please check the printer’s user guide manual from this link: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03353113

and please visit pages 26, 27 and 28 to know the type of cartridges involved.

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂 Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you.

Do you know any printer which might be able to do such a task? (:

@IdaThor

Thank you for the update.

Printing white letterpress on black paper is nearly impossible - the letterpress ink is transparent, like watercolor, so it doesn't give the desired crispness. Regular digital printing is not possible on dark paper - since "white" ink is usually the absence of ink.

I recommend you to Contact HP Technical Support over the Phone for further assistance.
