Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hello all,

I have very carefully followed the steps to scan on my computer and it seems something won't work. Both are fully connected and the next step is to open the printer software and select the scanning option yet this is what happens. I may be opening the wrong software and I've watched the HP help video but to no avail. scanning issues.pngscanning issues 2.png

Greetings @JMcTon,

Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post.

I understand that you unable to use the scanning software on your computer running on Windows 8.1.

Don't worry, I will be glad to help.

Do you have multiple printers installed on your computer?

Are you able to print and make copies on the printer?

After running the printer setup, when you launch the printer icon, you usually get the screen you have shared in the second image, where the first option is to connect a new printer.

Please select the option that says "Connect a new printer" and follows the on-screen instructions.

Once you have completed the on-screen instructions, you will be able to use and monitor the printer, as well scan from the printer.

This should resolve the issue you are facing.

Keep me posted.
