HP EVNY 4500e
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have used refilled/remanufactured HP ink cartridges for years with seveal HP printers. Now I am getting an error message saying that the cartridge is incompatible or counterfeit. WHY? It is my printer. I should be able to use whatever cartridge I want whether a new HP cartridge or a refilled/remanufactured one.

Has HP loaded software on my printers so they now reject refilled/remanufactured ink cartridges? If so, since the warranty has expired on the printers, why can't I find a fix or software to repair this problem? I have three HP Envy 4500 printers. Up until recently I have used refilled/remanufactured cartridges in all of them.

What's the problem HP?

@Teddybearmiller, welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

I understand that you are getting an error "cartridge is incompatible or counterfeit" after installing refilled cartridges.
