I've just upgraded to Win 10 and now when I go to scan on my Deskjet 1050A, I get the message "The HP Deskjet 1050 was not found". Yet I can print on it.
I've just run the scan doctor and it did a test scan ok, but still I cannot scan using the print and scan assistant.
Does anyone know what's going on?
Thanks!

Hi @Davecg69,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums! 🙂 I understand you have upgraded to the Windows 10 Operating system and now you are not able to scan with your HP Deskjet 1050. You are still able to print but get an error message that the 'Deskjet was not found' when attempting the scan.
1. When you upgraded to Windows 10, did you also upgrade the software and drivers for your DJ 1050?
2. Is the Printer connected by a USB or Wireless?
I would like you to complete the steps listed below:
1. Unplug the USB if using a direct connection.
2. Remove the HP DJ 1050 software from your computers Control Panel's Uninstall a program option.
3. Restart the computer.
4. Make sure all the DJ 1050 software is gone from the programs list as well as your HP folder listed under the All programs in your Start Menu.
5. Now go ahead and download the software and drivers for your DJ 1050 (DO NOT plug in USB until the software prompts you to).
6. Go ahead and print a test page.
7. If you are unable to print a test page, please run the HP Print and Scan Doctor- It was designed by HP to provide users with the troubleshooting and problem solving features needed to resolve many common problems experienced with HP print and scan products connected to Windows-based computers.

Please let me know if this was successful are you now able to Scan! I will watch for your reply.
