HP Laserjet 4000 TN
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

My work computer was updated to windows 10 after IT wiped it clean.  Need to install a printer driver for the HP Laserjet 4000 TN to allow wireless printing.  However, no luck.  Tried to download one for previous windows version with no luck.  Have tried selecting other printer drivers from HP hoping for success.  The generic text only print driver works but obiously not with images.  Thought I could tranfer the driver file from my other laptop that has windows 10 but can't find it.  Any help is appreciated!

My Windows 10 Professional 64-bit system has several built-in drivers for LaserJet 4000 printers:

You may have to click the Windows Update button in the Add Printer dialogue, then wait (perhaps for several minutes) whilst additional drivers are downloaded, before the list is repopulated.

Of course, I have no idea if these drivers will work successfully, or if they will provide all of the features that you may want.

in particular, I don't think that these printers supported wireless printing, so your question perhaps presupposes that you have some sort of wireless print server unit.

Hi and Thanks for the information.  My IT Department upgraded my laptop, so I am not sure why I am not seeing the same options that appear in your response.  Here is a picture of what I am seeing.  Any ideas?

The absence of the 'Windows Update' button on your 'Add Printer' dialogue suggest that your IT department have (perhaps as part of a corporate policy) disabled acess to Windows update.

You'll need to discuss this with them.

Thanks so much for the suggestion and I will certainly do that.  Hope you have a great Christmas.

Hi,

I have another idea and am wondering if someone could help.  I have the driver installed on another computer and am investigating the option of copying the driver file from one computer to the other and installing it.  However, I have no idea what the driver name is (there is an incredibly long list and the naming system isn't giving me any obvious clues).  I am looking for the driver for the HP Laserjet 4000 Series PCL5.  If anyone could help with this I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Will
