Please someone help me before I lose my mind! Bought the HP Envy 5541 printer two days ago. I set it up and downloaded the mobile app, tested the print and it was perfect. I then wanted to set it up on my laptop (also HP Envy). It's Windows 8 64 bit. I followed the installation and set up process which went through fine. However, when I try to print something nothing happens. The document briefly appears in the what's printing window and then disappears. I've gone through the HP Print and Scan Doctor, uninstalled and reinstalled the software numerous times. I've even tried setting it up with USB but it doesn't seem to be recognised. I've followed lots of 'fixes' from other posts but can't get it working. I've also tried printing through the remote app and it still doesn't do anything.

I know the printer works because the iPhone app allows me to print, but it just won't work with my laptop. Please help!

Hi @EmmaB1234,

As I understand you are having connectivity issues on your HP Envy 5541 printer. Don't worry we'll work together to find a solution for you,

Step 1: Hard reset on the printer, router, computer and other devices on the same network.

The following steps temporarily disconnect network and Internet connections and require restarting your computer. Complete any tasks or downloads in progress before continuing.

1. Press the Power button on the printer to turn it off.

2. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

3. Disconnect the power cord from the wireless router.

4. Turn off the computer.

5. Wait for 30 seconds.

6. Reconnect the power cord to the wireless router.

7. Wait for 30 seconds, or until the router is fully on and ready

8. Turn the computer back on.

9. Wait for the computer to reload

10. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

11. Turn the printer back on.

Step 2: Check for connectivity

1. On the front panel of your printer, look at the status of your blue wireless light. If it is a solid blue light your printer should be reconnected to your network. If the wireless light is solid blue, then the printer is connected to the network. Press the blue icon and then get the printer IP address.

2. If the blue wireless light is flashing or OFF, scroll your finger to the left on the touch screen display. Touch Setup (nuts and bolts icon)

3. Scroll up with your finger and touch Network (or Network Setup)

4. Select Wireless

5. Select Wireless Setup Wizard

6. Your Network Name (SSID) should now display in the list. If you see your Network Name (SSID) please touch it.

7. Next, enter your wireless passwordThis password is case sensitive.

If the issue persists, I would suggest you try to restore network defaults and then run the Wireless setup wizard and connect the printer to the new network.

If the issue persists, I would suggest you go ahead and install built-in drivers from control panel - Hardware and sound - Devices and printers - Add a printer - Choose your printer. Here is the link.

Keep me posted for further assistance,

If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.
