Greetings @Dan_the_Ref,

Thanks for the post.

I understand that you have replaced the router and are looking to setup the printer on your new router but can't type % on the printer control panel. Don't worry, I will be glad to help.

Have you thought of changing the password on your router?

Have you tried to convert USB to wireless setup?

To the best of my knowledge, you cannot type % using the printer control panel. Refer to this HP Forums post where a customer was recommended to change the router password to overcome this limitation.

As a workaround, if you do not want to change the password on the router.

You can setup the printer on your computer using USB connection and run the HP Setup from the HP Folder created on the Windows/Start menu to convert the USB setup to wireless.

The easiest was to overcome the issue, is by changing the router password.

If you want to go with the workaround suggested, please follow the procedure mentioned below.

First, you would need to uninstall the printer installed on the computer. Refer to this article for assistance.

Turn off the printer.

Open programs and features.

Uninstall the printer.

Press Win + R to bring up the run command box.

Type %temp% and hit the enter key or click on Ok.

This would bring up the temp folder.

Delete all the temp files accumulated.

Restart the computer.

Download the latest software for your printer from www.hp.com/drivers

Install the printer, setup the printer using USB connection.

Once the setup is complete.

Go to the HP Folder in the Start menu, run HP Setup.

This would bring up a dialog box where you can convert the USB to a wireless setup.

Refer to this HP Article for Assistance.
